Lin Jizhai Ancestral Hall at Lianjiang

This ancestral hall is located in Lianjiang Village, Linpu, Chengmen Town, Cangshan District. Lin Jizhai, styled Hengdu, was the younger brother of Lin Han and served as the Tongzhi (deputy prefect) of Chaozhou. The family temple was built during the Ming Dynasty's Jiajing era by Lin Jizhai’s son, Lin Tingmo. The temple faces west and is built with earth and wood structures, consisting of a gate tower, courtyard, wing rooms, main hall, and backyard, covering an area of 393 square meters, oriented 35 degrees southwest. The ancestral hall comprises a gate tower, courtyard, wing rooms, and more. Two flagpole bases are preserved in front of the main gate. The facade features a pavilion-style wooden framework, with a horizontal plaque inscribed in regular script: “Lin Jizhai Family Temple.” Beneath the eaves, the bracket sets are stacked in four tiers, topped with a single-eave hip-and-gable roof. On both sides are horse-head walls. The main hall is three bays wide and seven bays deep, constructed with a combination of raised-beam and through-tenon post-and-lintel frameworks, featuring a double-sloped roof. On both sides, arched firewalls connect to the rear enclosing wall.

The roof has a relatively gentle slope, and the firewall is shaped like a saddle, decorated with floral patterns.

In December 1992, it was designated as a district-level cultural heritage site and underwent restoration in 1993.

This ancestral hall is fairly representative and provides physical reference material for the study of ancient ancestral halls and clan culture in Cangshan District.

Lianjiang Village: The historical site of Lianjiang Village is Linpu, which includes relics such as the temporary palace of the last emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty and the Lian-Xi Academy. It enjoys convenient transportation and a solid industrial foundation. Currently, there are 796 households, with a population of 2,397 and 1,499 laborers. In 2012, the total rural economic income was 266.17 million yuan, and the village fiscal revenue was 843,100 yuan.
