Liujin Sanxi Bridge

Sanxi Bridge, also known as Caifeng Bridge, is located at the confluence of three streams—the Xue Stream, the Niao Stream, and the Lingyunyang Stream—at the border between Caifeng Natural Village in Bantou Village and Liujin Village. Hence its name. It was a key transportation route connecting the ancient counties of Min, Houguan, Gutian, Lianjiang, and Luoyuan, and served as the only bridge linking Liujin Village to the outside world. It is one of the seven surviving ancient covered bridges in Minhou County.

Sanxi Bridge was first built in the 24th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1844). It is a single-span stone-piered wooden arch covered bridge, running from north to south, with a total length of 32 meters across 12 bays, a width of 5.4 meters across 3 bays, and a height of 3.7 meters. The bridge utilizes the steep stone cliffs on both sides of the stream as its foundation, with bridge piers constructed from granite strips. Multiple layers of round logs are stacked and interlocked to form an inverted-V-shaped wooden arch. It features a gable-and-hip roof, wooden planks laid across the bridge deck, wooden railings on both sides, rain-shielding boards under the eaves, and long benches inside the corridor. At the northern end of the bridge, there was originally a Buddhist niche housing a statue, though the statue is no longer present. Ink inscriptions on the ridge beam of the corridor read: “Erected on a lucky day in the fifth lunar month of the 25th year of the Daoguang reign, the Year of the Tiger, in the Great Qing Dynasty.” The pillars, beams, and crossbeams all bear couplets, which are said to have been composed and inscribed by Zhang Yegui, a renowned scholar from Luoyuan.

In 1989, it was listed as one of the first batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units.

Dahhu Township: A township under the jurisdiction of Minhou County. Established as Dahhu Commune in 1958 and restructured as a township in 1984. Located in the northern part of the county, it is 23.5 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 327 square kilometers with a population of 31,000, the Fuzhou-Gutian Highway runs through the township. It administers 23 village committees: Dahhu, Niankeng, Dachi, Lingtou, Liujin, Xuefeng, Dongyao, Lantian, Qiangping, Shangyuan, Chaping, Houyang, Shuangxi, Xintang, Bantou, Dongqian, Maqian, Ruoyang, Daping, Yangshan, Xianshan, Zhenshan, and Houjing.
