Zhàn Bǎn Jìng

Zhàn Bǎn Jìng is a cultural relic protection unit of Jin’an District.

Zhàn Bǎn Jìng is located in Zhànbǎn Village, Xīndiàn Township on the outskirts of Fuzhou City. It was originally built during the Five Dynasties period and renovated in the Qing Dynasty. The temple enshrines Li Renda, a general of the Min Kingdom during the Five Dynasties (divine title: Hùguó Liúhóu), as well as Linshui Furen, Fúdé Zhèngshén, Lú and Yáng, the two Attendants, Dà Chǔjūn, and others. The name of Zhànbǎn originated from Li Renda’s victory over the Southern Tang army in this area. The temple architecture faces south and consists of a temple gate with a stage, the main hall, and other structures, covering an area of 840 square meters. The temple gate is hung with a plaque inscribed “Lóngfēng Zhèngjìng” (Dragon Peak Sacred Site). Inside is a stage whose central wooden panel is usually removed to serve as a walkway. The main hall features a flush-gable roof. It is five bays wide and three bays deep, with a front roll-roofed worship hall. The horizontal braces of the worship hall reduce the number of internal pillars, saving all inner columns. The bases of its four outer pillars are made of granite, carved with upside-down lotus petal patterns, and are relics from the Song Dynasty. In 1992, it was designated as a district-level cultural relic protection unit.
