The Niutou Mountain Site is a cultural heritage site protected by Minhou County.

Niutou Mountain Site

Located on Niutou Mountain in Hubing Village, Yangli Township, Minhou County, Fujian Province, the site was discovered in 1979 and covers a total area of about 10,000 square meters. The cultural layer is 1 to 1.5 meters thick, with the thickest part reaching 2.5 meters. There are three layers of deposits: the upper layer, 20–50 centimeters thick, contains mainly geometric patterned hard pottery. In terms of texture and decorative patterns, it is very similar to artifacts found at Hongwei Huangtulun and the upper layer of Tanshishan, belonging to the Bronze Age; the middle layer mainly consists of a mixed deposit of clam shells and gray soil, with relatively few artifacts; the lower layer is thicker, and has yielded polished gray clay gui vessels, orange-red pottery jars with basket and grid patterns, as well as fragments of sandy red pottery cauldrons, in addition to turtle shells, stone pestles, pottery net sinkers, and more. These features are largely the same as those found in the middle and lower layers of the Tanshishan Site, and are believed to be relics from the late Neolithic Age.

It was listed as one of the first batch of county-level cultural heritage protection units in 1989.

It borders Dahu Township to the east, Minqing County to the west, the Min River to the southwest, and neighbors both Minqing County and Baisha Town to the south, as well as Wengtou Mountain and Tingping Township of Minqing County to the north.
