Songfeng Pavilion

Songfeng Pavilion is a cultural heritage site protected by Lianjiang County.

Songfeng Pavilion is located between Lion Rock and Elephant Rock in Qingzhi Mountain. Originally, there was a grove of fully-grown pine trees in front of the pavilion. The small structure was nestled behind the woods, making it difficult for passersby to see its full appearance. The pavilion has two levels: the lower level is raised, with a road running east-west through it, and a row of bench-style railings to the south where visitors can rest. The upper level consists of a single room with windows on three sides, and a small door at the back leads to the mountain behind the pavilion and the Heavenly Gate Cave. On the lower level, backed against the rock wall, are three characters “Song Feng Ge” (Pine Wind Pavilion), personally inscribed and signed by Lin Sen.

In the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933), during the “Minnan Incident” launched by the 19th Route Army of the “1·28” Movement, Lin Sen, then Chairman of the National Government, returned to Fujian to mediate. During his stay in Fujian, Lin Sen resided at his former home, Xiaoyu Cottage, in Qingzhi Mountain. Lü Chao, the Chief of Staff of the National Government, stayed with him at Xiaoyu Cottage for half a year and gradually grew fond of the mountain scenery. When Lin Sen reconstructed the Halfway Pavilion, Lü Chao voluntarily contributed funds to build a small pavilion. Because the pavilion was surrounded by towering pine trees that blocked out the sunlight, and the sound of the mountain wind rustling through the pines was deafening, it was named “Songfeng Pavilion” (Pine Wind Pavilion), with the name inscribed and titled by Lin Sen.

After its completion, Songfeng Pavilion was used as a roadside shelter and became one of the important scenic spots in Qingzhi Mountain.

Guantou Town: Located on the north bank of the Min River estuary in Lianjiang County, it borders the Mawei Development Zone to the west, faces the Langqi Economic Development Zone across the Min River estuary to the south, and leans against Lianjiang County’s urban area to the north. The Shenhai Expressway has an interchange in the town. The town covers a total area of 64 square kilometers, governs 28 villages (residential areas), and has a population of 58,300. It is a national pilot town for small-town construction, one of Fuzhou’s 20 commercial and trade hubs, as well as a provincial Taiwan ship berthing point, a Taiwan trade point, a key economic town in Lianjiang County, and a well-known hometown of overseas Chinese.
