Dongqi Huang Clan Ancestral Hall

The Dongqi Huang Clan Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Mawei District.

The Dongqi Huang Clan Ancestral Hall is located in Dongqi Village, Tingjiang Town, on the outskirts of Fuzhou. Originally built during the Kangxi and Yongzheng reigns of the Qing Dynasty, it was expanded and renovated during the Qianlong and Guangxu reigns, and further repaired and modified in the 19th year of the Republic of China (1930). The hall faces south and is constructed of wood, measuring 21 meters in width and 28 meters in depth, with a total area of 588 square meters. The front features a plain wall with a double stone-framed plank door, and a screen door is installed at the front courtyard, with three-sided corridors connecting to the main hall. The main hall has three bays in width, uses raised beams with reduced columns, and seven pillars along its depth, featuring a post-and-lintel construction.

It has a double-sloped roof with saddle-style fireproof walls on both gables. The front corridor is spacious, and the central hall houses a spirit tablet niche. The left and right side chambers serve as ceremonial rooms. The rear courtyard is as wide as the front yard,

but shorter in depth, with small side rooms on both sides used as kitchens or utility spaces. A Song Dynasty bluestone funerary stele from the 12th year of the Chunyou era (1252) is embedded in the back courtyard wall. In 1992, the structure was elevated to its original design, the walls were replastered with blue tiles, and the hall was fully restored. A set of stone carvings depicting the achievements of the Huang ancestors was added under the eaves of the gate wall, while the interior displays couplets, plaques, calligraphy, and paintings by contemporary master artists to enhance its artistic and cultural value. It was designated as a district-level cultural relic protection unit in 1994.

The village comprises 19 villager groups with a population of 1,715, covering a total area of 10.6 square kilometers, including 5,468 mu of ecological forest.
