The Tomb of Chen Baochen is a cultural relic protection unit of Fuzhou City.

Located in the northwest of Junzhu Village, Mawei District. The tomb was built in 1923, faces southwest and is oriented from the northeast, featuring an auspicious rhombus-shaped layout with four terraced platforms.

Chen Baochen (1848–1935)

A native of Luozhou, Cangshan.

He became a Jinshi (advanced scholar) in the seventh year of the Tongzhi reign, was appointed as the Education Commissioner of Jiangxi in the eighth year of the Guangxu reign, promoted to Minister of the Grand Secretariat and concurrently Vice Minister of Rites in the ninth year, but was demoted by five ranks in the eleventh year.

In the third year of the Xuantong reign, he was reappointed as tutor at the Yuting Palace and later came to be known as the “Last Imperial Tutor.”

After the Sino-French War (December 1883 to April 1885), Chen Baochen was demoted by nine ranks due to his involvement in recommending Tang Jiong and Xu Yan to take charge of military affairs—an act deemed inappropriate—and subsequently withdrew from official duties, spending the rest of his days at his former residence in Luozhou Town...
