Huai'an Jieguandao Wharf

Huai'an Jieguandao Wharf is a cultural heritage site protected at the municipal level in Fuzhou.

Huai'an Jieguandao Wharf is located on the banks of the Wulong River in the southeast of Huai'an Village, Cangshan District. It includes the ancient Jieguandao and the wharf, serving as an important testament to the once-thriving Maritime Silk Road. The Jieguandao features a pier-like structure and covers an area of approximately 380 square meters; to the west, three large rocks extend into the river, forming the wharf, which is the only preserved ancient Jieguandao wharf in Huai'an. The stone-paved wharf path is about 5 meters wide, with over a hundred transverse grooves carved into the slabs to prevent slipping when boarding or disembarking. There are also remnants of stone slots used for tying ropes to help secure moored boats. Starting in 2005, the Third Ring Road was constructed near Huai'an, leading to greening improvements along the riverfront. The old wharf underwent basic restoration, and a set of farewell stone sculptures was installed at the wharf’s end. In January 2015, as part of the “Huai'an Government Site and Jieguandao,” it was designated as one of the sixth batch of municipal-level cultural heritage sites in Fuzhou.
