Lianjiang Academy is a cultural relic protection unit of Fuzhou City.

Lianjiang Academy

Located to the east of Taishan Palace in Lianjiang Village, Linpu, Chengmen Town, Cangshan District, also known as Wenchang Palace. Its exact year of establishment is unknown. It is said that Zhu Xi once gave lectures here and inscribed the four characters “Civilized Atmosphere.” Covering an area of 764 square meters, it currently features Qing Dynasty architecture. The academy faces north and sits on a southward orientation, built with wooden structures and a single-eave hip-and-gable roof. The corner eaves rise with upturned ridges, adorned with gray plaster scroll motifs, and the lower corners are fitted with fish ornaments. The wooden structure uses a post-and-lintel frame. The two-story building has a width of three bays and a depth of five columns. The upper floor features verandas at the front and both sides, with the right side designated as the Zhu Zi Ancestral Hall. There is a small courtyard in front of the building with a stone-paved ground, fronted by a stone railing whose panels are inscribed with the words “Literary Light Piercing the Dipper.” The surrounding area is enclosed by walls. It currently serves as a poetry hall for a primary school. In the front courtyard, short decorative screens are inscribed — the front reads “Literary Light Piercing the Dipper,” and the back “Lian River Dragon Soaring.”

In June 2001, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit.

Lianjiang Village: Historically part of the ancient site of Linpu, Lianjiang Village is home to relics such as the temporary palace of the last emperor of the Southern Song Dynasty and the Lian-Xi Academy. It enjoys convenient transportation and a solid industrial foundation. The village currently has 796 households, a population of 2,397, and 1,499 laborers. In 2012, the total rural economic income was 266.17 million yuan, with village fiscal revenue amounting to 843,100 yuan.
