Shishan Lin Shangshu Family Temple
Located in Shishan Village, Linpu, Chengmen Town, Cangshan District, also known as Gongbao Shrine, it is a family ancestral hall built by Lin Han, Minister of War of Nanjing during the Ming Dynasty, serving as a memorial to the prestigious Lin family of central Fujian for their achievements of "five ministers across three generations" and "eight successful imperial examinees in seven examination sessions." Built in the 13th year of the Zhengde era (1518) and renovated in the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), it underwent another restoration in 1987. The temple is a wooden structure facing southwest from the northeast, consisting of a gate tower, wing rooms, a stage, corridors, a main hall, and a courtyard, covering an area of 669 square meters. The gate tower is styled like a memorial archway, featuring bracket sets with ruyi motifs under the eaves and a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof. The plaque reads: “Shishan Lin Shangshu Family Temple.” An inscribed stone tablet embedded in the gate wall reads: “Gongbao Shrine, renovated in the 29th year of the Republic of China.” From the inner side of the gate tower to the courtyard lies a stage covered by a wooden four-corner pavilion. The main hall is five bays wide and seven bays deep, with a post-and-lintel wooden structure, flanked by firewalls. A 1.4-meter-high and 1.2-meter-wide stone tablet titled “Record of Lin Shangshu Family Temple” is embedded on the right wall of the gate tower. The inscription states: “Lin Wen’an, Minister of War of Nanjing and posthumously honored as Grand Guardian of the Heir Apparent, returned home after ten years of service, having accumulated surplus wealth, and thus built this ancestral hall east of his ancestral residence. On the 27th day of the 12th month in the 13th year of the Zhengde era, coinciding with the beginning of spring, the ancestral tablets were relocated and enshrined here.” In front of the temple is a stone-paved pool “shaped like a black gauze cap.”
Designated as a district-level cultural relic protection unit in 1986.
Designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit in 1992.
