Jimei Bridge

Jimei Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Fuzhou City.

Jimei Bridge is located in Junzhu Village, Mawei District, Fuzhou City. It was built in the fifth year of the Jingyou era during the Song Dynasty (1038) and underwent multiple renovations during the Yongzheng, Jiaqing, and Tongzhi reigns of the Qing Dynasty. Oriented from east to west, the bridge is constructed of stone, features a single arch, and has a flat-beam structure. It is 8.6 meters long and 2.5 meters wide. The bridge is adorned with square balusters and slabstone railings. Four steps are laid at both ends, and the railing slabs bear the inscriptions “Jimei Bridge” and records of renovations from various dynasties. The Song Dynasty inscription on the bridge surface reads: “The 20th day of the ninth month in the fifth year of Jingyou, the year of Wu-Yin.” Qing Dynasty inscriptions on the columns include: “Erected in the sixth year of Tongzhi, in late autumn,” “Renovated by descendants of Ren Guangguang”; “The year of Renxu during the Jiaqing reign,” “On the auspicious first day of early summer,” “By the local resident Ren Keguang,” “Renovated by descendants.” The bridge is well-preserved. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit in 1992.

National Highway 104, the Luochang Expressway, and the Ji’er Expressway all run through the area, giving it a prime geographical location. The village covers an area of nearly 2 square kilometers, with 6,854 mu of mountainous and forested land. It has a total population of 2,684 residents across 897 households, and more than 2,500 overseas Chinese, making it one of the well-known overseas Chinese villages in Mawei District.
