The Former Residence of the Fang Family in Zhuzifang is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Former Residence of the Fang Family in Zhuzifang (Former Residence of Fang Boqian) is located at the eastern end of the riverbank in Zhuzifang, Gulou District, Fuzhou City. It was built in the early Qing Dynasty and renovated during the Jiaqing and Guangxu periods.

The building faces north and is enclosed by walls on all sides. The main structure has three courtyards. In front of the gate stands a screen wall on the riverbank, and the entrance features a “three-bay visible, five-bay hidden” gatehouse. Passing through the stone-framed gate, one finds corridors on three sides with a courtyard beneath. The first courtyard’s main hall is five bays wide and seven pillars deep, featuring a post-and-lintel wooden frame with reduced columns, a double-pitched roof, and exceptionally large wooden pillars. The stone slabs are smooth, and the central hall is flanked by side rooms. The door panels, window sills, and lattice windows are all made of finely carved nanmu wood. The second courtyard’s front hall displays a golden double-dragon “Imperial Edict Box” on the wall. Both the front and rear of the hall have courtyards, with wing rooms on either side. The doors, window frames, and lattice designs are all crafted from nanmu wood with exquisite carvings. The third courtyard is a two-story building, with the upper floor serving as a library and the lower floor as a study area. To the east is a flower hall, which originally had a fish pond and garden—now converted into living quarters. Each courtyard is separated by walls, and connecting passageways are joined by covered pavilions.

Designated as a sixth batch provincial-level cultural heritage site of Fujian Province on May 11, 2005.
