Located on the north side of West Bayi Liu Road, Northwest Street, Fengcheng Town, Lianjiang County, it is a residential building from the mid-to-early Ming Dynasty. According to the genealogy of the Sun family, the residence was built during the Hongxi to Xuande eras of the Ming Dynasty, making it one of the earliest residential buildings in the Fuzhou area.

The original Xiayuanli complex had four courtyards, but only the second and third remain. The first entrance hall was demolished during road construction in the 1950s, and the fourth courtyard garden was destroyed by Japanese aircraft bombing during the Anti-Japanese War.

The second courtyard consists of a front corridor, side rooms on the left and right, and the main building, which is five bays wide and nine columns deep, featuring a mixed structure of through-tenon and raised-beam construction. The main building of the third courtyard is also five bays wide and nine columns deep, with a fully through-tenon structure.

The architectural scale and material use of Xiayuanli are extremely rare, making it an outstanding example of an early residential building in the Fuzhou area, with high cultural and historical value.

It was designated as a ninth-batch provincial-level cultural heritage site in 2018.
