The Zheng Family Residence in Gaohu Longyuan

Originally built during the Ming Dynasty, it faces east with a slight northward orientation, and consists of two parallel sections to the west and east. The western section has one courtyard and is an architecture from the Republican era, while the eastern section has two courtyards and originates from the mid-to-early Ming Dynasty. The western section is three bays wide and five pillars deep, featuring a post-and-lintel wooden frame structure, with front and rear courtyards. The eastern section has a stone-paved courtyard at the front, and both the first and second courtyards’ main halls are five bays wide and seven pillars deep, with double-sloped hanging gable roofs. The first courtyard’s main hall features a front corridor; the central hall uses a post-and-lintel beam frame construction with a well-shaped grid, while the front corridor uses stacked bracket sets. Inside the hall, on the four purlins, there are camel humps stacked with bracket sets, supporting the flat beams. The connection between the front king posts using bracket arms to support a one-dou-three-rise structure bearing the roof frame is extremely unique; the rest of the frame uses the post-and-lintel method, representing a typical Ming Dynasty wooden structure form in the Fuzhou area. The front porch corridor of the second courtyard’s main hall uses a stacked bracket set structure, and the body of the building adopts the post-and-lintel method throughout.

Listed as a Ninth Batch Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 2018.
