The Tomb of Chen Di is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Tomb of Chen Di

Located in Gewo Mountain, Guanling Village, Pukou Town, Lianjiang County, about six li in front of the tomb stands a spirit way stele. The top of the stele is carved with a design of two dragons playing with a pearl, and the front of the base features a relief of a deer. The center of the stele is inscribed in intaglio regular script: “Tomb Path of Master Chen of Yizhai from the Ming Dynasty,” with the inscription at the bottom reading: “Inscribed by Huang Cong, friend from the Eastern Mountains; erected by Xu Liang, disciple from Eastern Zhejiang.” The tomb is entirely built of lime-soil mixture and is shaped like a ruyi (a traditional Chinese ornamental object). At the center of the tomb is engraved “Tomb of Master Chen of Yizhai from the Ming Dynasty,” with the upper inscription reading: “Facing Ding, Sitting on Gui, Tianqi Year of Guihai,” and the lower inscription: “Erected by friend Huang Cong and disciple Xu Liang.”

Designated as a third batch provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit in 1991.

Pukou Town: Located on the northern bank of the estuary where the Ao River flows into the sea in Lianjiang County, it faces Dongdai Town across the river. It is 7 kilometers from the county seat, 8 kilometers from National Highway 104, and Provincial Highway Lianhuang runs through the town. The under-construction Fuzhou-Wenzhou Railway also crosses the area. The town covers an area of 45 square kilometers, with a coastline of 13 kilometers, over 3,000 mu of shallow shoals and tidal flats, and 13,000 mu of arable land. It governs 14 administrative villages with a population of 39,800. The area boasts rich cultural resources, including the tomb of Chen Di, a military strategist and ancient phonologist from the Ming Dynasty, which is a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit, and 36 Song Dynasty bowl kiln sites, which are county-level cultural heritage protection units.
