Also known as the Wu Clan Ancestral Hall, it is located in Dongtang Village, Donghu Town, Lianjiang County, Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. Built during the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, the site spans 808 square meters, faces south, and includes a front hall, courtyard, main hall, rear courtyard, and shrine. The main hall has a flush gable roof and a post-and-lintel framework, covering three bays in width and five columns in depth. The ancestral hall is now also used as the Wu Shi Memorial Hall (commemorating the surviving heroes of the Huanghuagang Uprising). In the late Qing Dynasty, secret anti-Qing organizations called “Guangfu Society” were established in areas such as Toubao, Zhushan, and Gangxia in Lianjiang County. In the 22nd year of the Guangxu reign (1896), the Lianjiang Guangfu Society was formed at Qipantang in Toubao. Building on this foundation, the “Lianjiang Restoration Society” was organized in the 34th year of the Guangxu reign (1908) and became a branch of the Fujian Alliance Society. In the 3rd year of the Xuantong reign (1911), 26 members of the Lianjiang Restoration Society, led by Wu Shi, traveled to Guangzhou to participate in the Guangzhou Uprising. Ten members from Lianjiang, including Zhuo Qiuyuan, sacrificed their lives in this battle, and their names were inscribed on the monument of the “72 Martyrs of the Huanghuagang Uprising.” The Wu Clan Ancestral Hall served as a secret meeting place and contact point for members of the Lianjiang Restoration Society at that time.
