Sanyuan Shrine

Sanyuan Shrine is located in Tashan Park in Yongtai County. It was built in the 11th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1831) to commemorate the remarkable achievement of three top imperial examination scholars (Xiao Guoliang, Zheng Qiao, and Huang Ding) from the county who consecutively topped the exams over seven years during the Qiandao era (1166–1172) of the Southern Song Dynasty. It was constructed at the same time as Liankui Pagoda but was later destroyed. In 1985, Yongtai County raised more than 100,000 yuan to rebuild the shrine on its original site. The shrine houses portraits of the top scholars Xiao Guoliang, Zheng Qiao, and Huang Ding, along with memorial tablets. It features structures such as the Chong Hall, a spacious courtyard, a flower garden, a poetry corridor, and inscribed stone tablets. Couplets in the shrine summarize the glorious legacy of the three scholars from Yongtai over that seven-year period in the Southern Song Dynasty.

In 2012, Liankui Pagoda and Sanyuan Shrine were jointly designated as provincial-level cultural heritage protection units in Fujian Province.

Zhangcheng Town: Located at the confluence of the Dazhangxi River and the Qingliangxi River, it is the political, economic, and cultural center of the entire county. Covering a total area of 4.75 square kilometers, it has 550 mu of arable land, 3,400 mu of forested land, and administers 5 community neighborhood committees and 1 administrative village, with a total population of 30,500. The town produces and sells over 25 million sweet potato seedlings annually. Major tourist and cultural attractions include Tashan’s Liankui Pagoda and Sanyuan Shrine.

In 2004, the town achieved an industrial output value of 83.01 million yuan, an agricultural output value of 5.1 million yuan, a township enterprise output value of 349.03 million yuan, and a per capita rural income of 4,780 yuan.
