Inscription “Ancient Relics of Ye Mountain”

Located at the end of Chengzhi Street in Gulou District, the four characters “Ancient Relics of Ye Mountain” are individually engraved on four granite stones, each 0.60 meters square, in regular script, horizontally inscribed, with bold and vigorous strokes. According to Guo Baicang’s *Ten Days’ Talk in the Bamboo Grove*, they were written by He Rulian, the prefect of Fuzhou, during the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty (1796–1820). They are inlaid on the west side retaining wall.

Huada Subdistrict: Huada Subdistrict is located in the urban-rural fringe area in the north of Gulou District. Its name is derived from the combination of Hualinfang and Beida Road within its jurisdiction. The area was once the site of the Ye capital of the Minyue Kingdom in the early Han Dynasty, with the Ye City roughly situated between today’s Pingshan and Ye Mountain, spanning approximately 2.5 kilometers in circumference. It borders Wufeng Subdistrict and Gudong Subdistrict to the east, starting from Wusi Road, turning onto Hualin Middle Road and Pindong River, adjacent to Wufeng Subdistrict and Gudong Subdistrict; it neighbors Guxi Subdistrict to the west, extending to Hubin Wohu Road and Yuanshuai Road; it connects with Nanjie Subdistrict to the south, bounded by Yangqiao Road and Hujie Road; and reaches Ma’an to the north, covering an area of 3.73 square kilometers.
