The Huai'an Kiln Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Located on Tianmaling in Huai'an Community, Jianxin Town, Cangshan District, it was discovered in 1953; relics from the Southern Dynasties were found during a survey in 1962. The kiln site covers an area of over 80,000 square meters, mainly distributed at the southern end of Shizhe Mountain. Excavations in 1982 revealed two layers of cultural deposits, each 1 to 3 meters thick, dating to the Southern Dynasties and Tang Dynasty respectively. Over 3,000 Southern Dynasties artifacts were unearthed, including short-spout ewers, bowls, plates, cups, bowls, jars, tea cups, saucers, vegetable jars, plates, pots, and jars—everyday utensils—as well as stationery such as multi-legged inkstones, ritual objects like tripods and braziers, and a large number of kiln tools. One support bears the date “Datong.” The ceramics all have a grayish-white body and are coated with celadon glaze. About 5 meters south of the Southern Dynasties deposit lies the remnant of a sloping dragon kiln from the Tang Dynasty. The kiln bed is 8.5 meters long and 2.4 meters wide, with remaining walls 0.1 to 0.15 meters high, and more than 2,000 artifacts were excavated. In addition to continuing Southern Dynasties styles, the finds included long-spout ewers, melon-shaped spout ewers, multi-spout tower-style grain storage jars, small five-grain jars, boxes, pottery figurines, lions, and ritual objects. The ceramics feature a grayish-white body and are covered with celadon glaze, with a few featuring brown glaze decoration. Products from this kiln during the Tang Dynasty have been excavated in places like Kyushu, Japan. This site is the earliest celadon production center in Fujian and serves as important physical evidence of ancient Sino-foreign economic and cultural exchanges. It was listed as a provincial-level cultural heritage site in 1991. In 2014, as part of the “Maritime Silk Road Fuzhou Historical Sites,” it was included in China’s Tentative List for UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
