Tomb of Zhu Jingze

The Tomb of Zhu Jingze is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Tomb of Zhu Jingze is located in Taoyuanjing, Jianxin Town, Cangshan District. Commonly referred to as the "Tomb of the Prime Minister of Huai’an," it is the burial place of Zhu Jingze (635–709), a famous prime minister of the Tang Dynasty, and was moved here by his descendants during the late Tang Dynasty. The tomb is backed by Taoyuan Mountain and faces terraced fields. It is oriented 30 degrees northwest, with a layout shaped like a ruyi and features a two-tiered platform. The width at the front is 8.8 meters, and the depth is 11.8 meters. The earthen mound is enclosed by red bricks measuring 20×23.5×5.5 cm, filled with yellow earth, forming a rectangular structure that is 1.97 meters high, 3.39 meters wide, and 2.50 meters deep. In front of the mound is a niche, 0.825 meters high, 0.70 cm wide, and 0.23 meters deep, housing a bluestone tomb stele. The stele is 0.65 cm high, 0.38 meters wide, and 0.08 meters thick, with an inscription in intaglio script: “Tomb of the Late Tang Prime Minister, the Esteemed Zhu Jingze. Erected in the Gengzi year of the Guangxu reign, repaired by descendants in the mid-winter.” The text is in regular script with characters 4 cm in size. Within 400 meters of the tomb in the paddy fields stand stone figures and animals. The civil official wears a tall hat and holds a tablet, standing 2.6 meters tall; the military general dons armor and grasps a sword, also 2.6 meters tall. There is a pair of stone xiezhi, both crouching: one is 0.70 meters high, 0.41 meters wide, and 1.06 meters long, while the other is 0.75 meters high, 0.42 meters wide, and 0.93 meters long. The bricks of the tomb and the stone statues are all relics from the Tang Dynasty.

In March 2013, it was designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage site by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.
