The Revolutionary Martyrs' Memorial Room in Douyuan Village, Fuqing City is located within the former residence of Chengxu in Douyuan Village, Haikou Town, Fuqing City.

In January 1932, shortly after the echoes of the Long-Gao Uprising, the Fuzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China sent Huang Xiaomin to Fuqing to summarize the experiences and lessons of the uprising and prepare for new struggles. Yu Changyue brought Huang Xiaomin to Douyuan Village to inquire about the uprising from Chen Zhenfang (Chengxu), who had just returned home for winter break, and asked his grandfather Chen Guoxiang to treat Huang Xiaomin for malaria. As a result, Huang Xiaomin stayed at the Chen family home, treating his illness while working. He took the opportunity to spread revolutionary ideas to Chen Zhenfang (Chengxu) and his mother Xia Shuqiong, guiding them to join the revolution. The small home became a secret activity site for the Party. In September 1932, Chen Zhenfang (Chengxu) gathered 12 local Party members including Chen Zhongxiong, Chen Ada, and Chen Rushan to establish the Douyuan Farmers' Association at his home, mobilizing peasants to resist rents and taxes. In 1934, Huang Xiaomin, who had served as a member of the Fuzhou Central Municipal Committee and head of the Propaganda Department, came to the Chen family again to carry out work, making the Chen home an early revolutionary liaison point in Fuqing. At that time, leaders of the Party organization such as He Wencheng, Chen Bingkui, Liu Tujun, Yu Changyue, Chen Yunfei, and Yang Caiheng frequently visited the Chen home. His mother Xia Shuqiong warmly received the revolutionary comrades, joined the Communist Party, and embarked on the revolutionary path. In 1936, Huang Xiaomin went to Hong Kong to find the Southern Work Committee of the Communist Party of China. After returning, he conveyed the details of the “Xi’an Incident” at the Chen home and brought many documents and newspapers from the Party.

Chen Zhenxian, martyr, the second son of Xia Shuqiong, was born in 1922. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1936 and once served as the Second Secretary of the Fuzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China, a member of the Propaganda Department of the Central Fujian Regional Committee, and Secretary of the Fu (Qing) Ping (Tan) Working Committee. In May 1947, he was arrested due to betrayal by a traitor and was executed in Jiaoling, Changle City, at the age of 25.

To commemorate the martyr Chen Zhenxian, in 1991, led by the Party History Office of the Fuqing Municipal Committee and funded by the Old Revolutionary Base Areas Office of Fuqing City, the former home where Chen Zhenxian once lived and worked was renovated. Photos, letters, manuscripts, and other items from Chen Zhenxian’s comrades and revolutionary leaders were displayed in the exhibition hall for future generations to visit and remember. There are 83 items on display in the room, including 26 letters and poems written by martyrs Chen Bingkui and Chen Zhenxian while in prison. The exhibition room is located in the former residence of Chengxu, former Director of the Standing Committee of the Fujian Provincial People's Congress.

The Revolutionary Martyrs' Memorial Room in Douyuan Village, Fuqing City was designated as a Fuzhou Patriotic Education Base by the Fuzhou Municipal Committee and Fuzhou Municipal People's Government of the Communist Party of China in November 1996, and was announced as a Fuqing Youth Moral Education Base by the Fuqing Municipal People's Government in April 2002.
