The Jitou Revolutionary History Memorial Hall is a patriotic education base.

The Fuqing Jitou Revolutionary History Memorial Hall is located in Jitou Village, Yangxia Subdistrict, Fuqing City.

Jitou Village is a key revolutionary base village in Fuqing and the birthplace of the Fuqing County Committee of the Communist Party of China. In the late 1920s, Fuqing students who were members of the Communist Party and studying in Shanghai, Suzhou, and Fuzhou returned to their hometown to promote revolution and spread Marxism. In the autumn of 1930, the Fuqing Party-Youth League Mixed Branch was established, with Xie Tingqing as the secretary. In the autumn of 1932, the Fuqing Special Branch of the Communist Party of China was formed, with He Wencheng as the secretary. In January 1934, the Fuqing County Committee of the Communist Party of China was established in Jitou Village, with He Wencheng as the secretary. Since then, Jitou Village became an important revolutionary stronghold in Fuqing. In April 1941, the 8th Squadron of the Fuzhou–Pingtan Coastal Anti-Japanese Guerrilla Unit was formed in Jitou Village. The people of Jitou Village made significant contributions to the revolutionary cause, with a total of 10 revolutionary martyrs sacrificed over time.

To document the revolutionary struggle history of the Fuqing people from the 1920s to 1949, the Fuqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Fuqing Municipal People’s Government began preparations for the memorial hall in 2003. It was completed in 2005 and officially opened to the public on Tomb-Sweeping Day of that year.

The exterior of the memorial hall is elegant, dignified, and solemn. A small park in front of the hall features lush flowers, plants, and trees, as well as a pavilion, a small lake, and parking facilities. On the hill behind the hall lies the Martyrs’ Cemetery of Chen Bingkui. The indoor exhibition area covers approximately 300 square meters, featuring a rich variety of content. There are 213 exhibits in total, including 68 physical objects, 49 photos of martyrs and revolutionary predecessors, 74 text and image displays, 21 books and handwritten works by martyrs, and 1 large-scale sand table. Modern technology is fully utilized, including screening the TV documentary “The Revolutionary History of Fuqing,” showcasing the distribution of patriotic education bases and revolutionary sites and relics in Fuqing.

The Fuqing Jitou Revolutionary History Memorial Hall was designated as a Fuqing Municipal Patriotic Education Base by the Fuqing Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Fuqing Municipal People’s Government in April 2005, as a Fuzhou Municipal Patriotic Education Base by the Fuzhou Municipal Committee of the Communist Party of China and the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government in June 2006, and as a Fujian Provincial Party History Education Base by the Party History Research Office of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in September 2010.

Jitou Village: Jitou Village is located in the northeastern part of Yangxia Subdistrict. The jurisdiction currently has 6 villager groups, with a total of 336 households and a population of 1,237. Under the correct leadership of the higher-level Party committee and government, the village has successively been awarded honors such as “Fujian Provincial Sanitary Village,” “Fuqing Municipal Model Village for Clean and Honest Governance,” “Advanced Grassroots Party Organization,” and “Five-Star Party Branch.”

Jitou Village is the earliest revolutionary base village in Fuqing.
