Jiangjing Town Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery

The Jiangjing Town Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery is located east of the Jiangjing Telecom Bureau in Jiudian Village, Jiangjing Town, Fuqing City.

Jiudian Village in Jiangjing Town is a base village of the revolutionary old area. During the Agrarian Revolutionary period, under the leadership of He Xutao, some Party members spread revolutionary ideas in the Long (Tian)–Gao (Shan) area and mobilized and led the revolutionary masses of Long–Gao in their struggles against local despots, --, conscription, grain levies, and exorbitant taxes.

The Long–Gao area is situated in the southeast of Fuqing and extends from north to south, including Longtian Town, Jiangjing Town, Gangtou Town, Sanshan Town, Gaoshan Town, Shapu Town, and Donghan Town.

At the end of 1931, the Nationalist troops under Lin Jing committed atrocities in the Long–Gao area, oppressing the villagers. Communist Party member He Xutao helped organize the Rescue-the-Hometown Corps and the People’s Protection Corps, and planned an armed uprising. On December 26, uprisings were launched simultaneously in Longtian and Gaoshan towns, eliminating over 700 enemy soldiers. This struggle trained a group of key CCP members, such as He Xutao, Chen Xingfu, Zhang Duanzhe, Chen Jinlai, Chen Zhenfang, Chi Yimeizi, Chen Yigui, and Chen Zhengshun, laying the foundation for the CCP’s local organizations in Fuqing to mobilize the masses and carry out guerrilla warfare. Subsequently, under the leadership of the CCP’s Fuqing local organizations, the people of Long–Gao established the Yaoshan Self-Government Army, attacked local shops, struggled against landlords, and launched the Nánxītíng Uprising.

In March 1947, Chen Zhenxian, a member of the Central Fujian Committee of the CCP and Secretary of the Fu–Ping County Committee, led a group of guerrillas to further develop armed forces at Taishan Temple in Jiudian Village, Jiangjing Town. Taishan Temple and Jufutang became the headquarters and operational bases of the Central Fujian Military District.

More than 200 revolutionary martyrs sacrificed their lives in the Long–Gao area, including 83 in the Jiangjing area. To commemorate the revolutionary martyrs, educate future generations not to forget history, and inspire patriotism, in 2004, some descendants of the martyrs and relevant town and village units jointly initiated the establishment of the Jiangjing Town Revolutionary Martyrs' Cemetery. The cemetery covers an area of approximately 10,000 square meters and includes one memorial monument and two memorial pavilions.
