Former Site of the CPC Fuqing County Committee Office in Jitou Village

The former site of the CPC Fuqing County Committee office in Jitou Village is located in the Chen Clan Branch Ancestral Hall in the central part of Jitou Village, Yangxia Subdistrict, Fuqing City, and to the north of the Fuqing Jitou Revolutionary History Memorial Hall.

In the early 1930s, due to weak organizational foundations and suppression by enemies, the Fuqing County Party and League organizations had not been officially established. In May 1932, the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee sent He Wencheng back to Fuqing to establish a Party organization. He Wencheng contacted underground Party members such as Chen Bingkui and Xie Yuliu, recruited Yu Changyue and others into the Party, and in July 1932, established the CPC Fuqing Special Branch, serving as its secretary. From the autumn of 1932 to the winter of 1933, He Wencheng traveled to Longtian, Haikou, Beixiting, and visited Beiguocun, covering all parts of the county. He personally trained and recruited over 20 underground Party members and led the establishment of three branches in Longtian, Haikou, and Beiguocun. He Wencheng, Chen Bingkui, and Yu Changyue carried out revolutionary work under the cover of being elementary school teachers at the Chen Clan Branch Ancestral Hall.

In August 1933, the Yuxi Special Branch, affiliated with the CPC Putian Central County Committee, was established. To unify leadership, that winter, He Wencheng contacted Xue Wenkui, secretary of the Yuxi Special Branch, and they agreed on issues such as dissolving the two special branches and establishing the Fuqing County Committee. In January 1934, the CPC Fuqing County Committee was established in the Chen Clan Branch Ancestral Hall. He Wencheng served as the first county committee secretary, with five committee members: Chen Bingkui, Chen Jinlai, Yu Changyue, He Xutao, and Chi Yimei. This place became the first headquarters of the CPC Fuqing County Committee (another account claims it was at the former residence of martyr Chen Bingkui). Under the leadership of the county committee, the focus of the revolution in Fuqing shifted from urban to rural areas, leading to a flourishing period of peasant movement. In the summer of 1934, He Wencheng and others organized the Beixiting Uprising, which failed, and he was arrested. In February 1935, He Wencheng was executed heroically at the Jiaojiaoluo Execution Ground in Fuzhou.

The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall has a construction area of approximately 480 square meters, is built with brick and wood structure, and is currently well-preserved.

Jitou Village: Jitou Village is located in the northeastern part of Yangxia Subdistrict. The jurisdiction currently has 6 villager groups, with a total of 336 households and a population of 1,237. Under the correct leadership of the higher-level Party committee and government, it has successively received honors such as “Fujian Province Health Village,” “Fuqing City Model Village for Clean Government,” “Advanced Grassroots Party Organization,” and “Five-Star Party Branch.”
