The Former Site of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPC in Nanyang is located in Nanyang Village, Jiangtian Town, Changle District, Fujian Province.

Nanyang Village is a well-known revolutionary base village in Fujian. It is located at the junction of Changle, Fuqing, and Minhou counties/cities. The journey from Jiangtian in Changle to Nanyang Village involves a narrow path flanked by high mountains and passing through three strategic mountain passes, making the terrain very treacherous. In August 1944, the headquarters of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPC relocated from Tuer Mountain in Guanlie Village, Longyu Township, Yongtai County, to Nanyang Village in Changle. The headquarters of the Central Fujian Special Committee, the Central Fujian Guerrilla Unit, and the provincial armed forces also moved into Nanyang Village. A cave on Jiukeng Mountain (also known as Bijia Mountain), about five li from the village, served as the location where the provincial committee installed its radio station and held secret meetings. During its time in Nanyang Village, the provincial committee led the underground party organizations across the province, carried out armed struggles against the Japanese and stubborn forces, convened cadre meetings, organized the study of Mao Zedong’s report “The Tasks for 1945,” and held two training sessions for party cadres. In June 1945, the headquarters of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPC withdrew from Nanyang Village in Changle.

In 1991, restoration work began on the Former Site of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPC in Nanyang. This includes the original office building of the provincial committee (the ancestral hall of the Chen family), living quarters for the armed forces of the provincial committee, and the headquarters of the Central Fujian Guerrilla Unit, covering an area of 50 mu. The exhibition space within the site spans approximately 400 square meters.

The Former Site of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPC in Nanyang was designated as a cultural heritage site of Changle County by the Changle County People’s Government in April 1986, recognized as a patriotic education base of Changle City by the Changle Municipal Party Committee and Changle Municipal People’s Government in May 1995, designated as a patriotic education base of Fuzhou City by the Fuzhou Municipal Party Committee and Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government in July 2001, proclaimed as a national defense education base of Fujian Province by the Fujian Provincial People’s Government in November 2007, and established as a Fujian Provincial Party history education base by the Party History Research Office of the Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPC in September 2009.

Nanyang Village: Located in Jiangtian Town, Changle City, Nanyang Village sits in a mountainous region over 300 meters above sea level in the southeastern part of Changle. It borders Nanyang Township and Chengtou Town of Fuqing City to the west, connects to Songxia Town to the east, and adjoins You’ai Village to the north. The village covers 360 mu of arable land, 9,200 mu of forested land, and 300 mu of water area. It has a total population of 505 people across 135 households.
