The Site of the Hefu Underground Transportation Station is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Hefu Underground Transportation Station is located in Guotou Natural Village, Hefu Administrative Village, Tan Tou Town, Changle District.

In May 1933, as the Red Army forces in Lianjiang rapidly expanded, the Kuomintang intensified its crackdown on the red-controlled areas, leading to difficulties in supplying provisions and weapons for the troops. To address the challenge of transporting arms, the 1st Detachment of the Minzhong Red Army Guerrilla Forces dispatched Xie Simei and Chen Zhuosi to Hefu Township in Changle to establish a maritime transportation route. Xie Simei found Lin Chichi, a reliable and honest poor farmer in Guotou Village, Hefu Township, and subsequently recruited six others—Lin Yongzao, Lin Yongdong, Lin Dididi, Lin Chunnun, and Lin Chenchen—to form a transport team. They used Lin Chichi’s “clam-digging” boat to deliver guns and ammunition for the Lianjiang and Luoyuan Red Army.

In September 1933, upon the proposal of Xie Simei and Chen Zhuosi and with the approval of the Lianjiang County Committee, Chen Zhuosi accompanied Chen Xianheng and Yang Yihao to Hefu Township to inspect the work. At Lin Chichi’s home, they officially announced the establishment of the transportation station, with Lin Chichi serving as the station chief. They also set up a contact point in Guhuai, linking it with Fuzhou and Minhou to form a red transportation line. At that time, the transportation tasks were heavy, occurring roughly once every half month, and included guns, ammunition, organizational supplies, and mortars. These items were packed in sacks and concealed under fish and shrimp in the boat’s hold.

The following September, Chen Xianheng and Yang Yihao recommended Lin Chichi for Party membership. Soon after, Lin Yongzao, Lin Zhentuan, and others were also recruited into the Party, and a Party branch for the transportation station was established. Between February and March 1935, as the Kuomintang launched a large-scale military encirclement against the Lianjiang and Luoyuan Soviet areas, the Red Army was forced to relocate. Under the escort of transportation station members, Yang Caiheng, Chen Yunfei, and over 20 armed personnel moved to the Luohali area in Fuqing to continue operations. In April, Lin Chichi and six others joined the Minzhong guerrilla forces and engaged in armed struggle across Changle, Minhou, and Yongtai. Thereafter, the CPC Minzhong Regional Committee renamed the Hefu Transportation Station as the Hefu Liaison Station, which continued to secretly escort Party cadres between Minzhong and Mindong. In late February 1936, due to the mistaken killing of a boat owner from Guotou Village while raising funds, the transportation station’s organization was exposed. Lin Chichi and his wife were forced to flee to Zhejiang, Lin Yongzao was arrested and executed, and Lin Zhentuan and others followed the Mindong Red Army in relocating. The transportation station and Party organization, which had operated for nearly three years, ceased activities. The site of the transportation station was later destroyed after the liberation.
