The Fuzhou Shuanghong Primary School Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall is a classic site on China’s red tourism routes.

The Fuzhou Shuanghong Primary School Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall is located at No. 42 Caiyuandun, Taijiang District, Fuzhou City.

Shuanghong Primary School was founded in 1928. Its predecessor was the Shuanghong Academy, established in the mid-Qing Dynasty. In 1933, it was briefly renamed Labor Primary School; later, to avoid revealing its political stance, the original name was restored. After the liberation of Fuzhou, it was renamed Cangzhou Primary School. In 2001, it was officially reinstated as Shuanghong Primary School with approval.

Shuanghong Primary School is a school rich in revolutionary tradition and one of the earliest places in the Fuzhou area where the spark of revolution was ignited. It became an important base for the Chinese Communist Party to carry out revolutionary activities in Fuzhou.

In the winter of 1926, when the Northern Expeditionary Army—formed through the cooperation of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party—marched into Fuzhou, Lin Hengyuan (former member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Vice Chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee, and Standing Committee member of the Central Committee of the China Democratic League), Zheng Taichu, Ruan Baoqing, Lin Chunqin, Wang Yangqian, and others from the Houzhou area of Taijiang joined the Kuomintang and organized a group. This group, named "Youth Responsibility Society" (Qingnian Renshe), took its name from the idea of "taking the world as one’s responsibility." Lin Hengyuan was elected president, Lin Chunqin as head of organization, and Zheng Taichu as head of propaganda. The society had over 20 members, including Cai Xunzhong, Wang Shujin, Wang Yangqian, and Ruan Baoqing. The Youth Responsibility Society strongly supported the Northern Expeditionary Army’s entry into Fujian. They took to the streets, shouted slogans, posted flyers, and campaigned against imperialism and warlords, carrying out a series of revolutionary activities. After the failure of the Great Revolution, many revolutionaries were arrested and massacred. When the "Youth Responsibility Society" was forced to cease activities, Lin Hengyuan and others resolutely broke away from the Kuomintang.

In 1928, Lin Hengyuan, Zheng Taichu, Cai Xunzhong, Wang Shujin, Wang Yangqian, and others, together with local figure Chen Changhui, founded this primary school, with Lin Hengyuan serving as its first principal. Using the school as a cover, they explored revolutionary truths, carried out revolutionary activities, and educated and guided students to participate in social activities. They inspired students to understand revolutionary principles and strived to maximize the role of social education.

After the September 18th Incident in 1931, when Japan brazenly launched its war of aggression against China, Shuanghong Primary School emphasized anti-Japanese patriotic ideological education in its teaching and launched movements to resist Japan and save the nation. Among the older students, an Anti-Japanese Iron Blood Corps was organized to promote resistance and national salvation on the streets and to call on the public to boycott Japanese goods.

In November 1933, after the 19th Route Army, which had valiantly resisted the Japanese invaders in the Battle of Shanghai, was forced to retreat to Fujian and launched the Fujian Incident, Lin Hengyuan and others reconsidered their political stance. They came to realize that revolution could only succeed under the leadership of the Communist Party and resolved to follow the Communists. From then on, Shuanghong Primary School became an important base for the underground activities of our Party.

When the school reinstated its original name in 2001, the Fuzhou Shuanghong Primary School Revolutionary History Exhibition Room was established on the sixth floor of the teaching building. The exhibition is divided into four sections: The first section displays the revolutionary activities of the school’s predecessors, mainly through text and photographs. It also features 20 comic strips depicting the school’s revolutionary struggle history, comprehensively introducing the school’s revolutionary activities and showcasing the heroic, indomitable spirit and noble character of the revolutionary predecessors. The second section highlights how the school uses its revolutionary resources for educational activities, primarily through text and photos, and also showcases newspapers and greeting cards made by the students themselves. The third section reflects the care and support of veteran comrades and leaders at the provincial and municipal levels for the school’s revolutionary tradition education activities, with their inscriptions displayed on the walls. A new audiovisual and interactive experience area has been created using modern integrated light, sound, and electrical technologies.

In June 2001, the Fuzhou Shuanghong Primary School Revolutionary History Exhibition Hall was designated as a cultural relics protection unit of Taijiang District by the Taijiang District People’s Government. In September 2001, it was recognized as a Fuzhou Patriotic Education Base by the Fuzhou Municipal Committee of the CPC and the Fuzhou Municipal People’s Government. In September 2010, it was designated as a Fujian Provincial Party History Education Base by the Fujian Provincial Party History Research Office of the CPC. In May 2018, the Fuzhou Shuanghong Primary School Youth Red Revolutionary Education Base was awarded the title of "Pioneer Demonstration Post of the Communist Youth League."
