The former site of the Zitai'an Battle is located in Nongguang Village, Qingkou Town, Minhou County.

Before liberation, Zitai'an was under the jurisdiction of Huyu Town (now the Qingkou Town area). Huyu Town was located at the center of Qili and was a bustling area with a large population, numerous streets, and many shops. Most of the landlords and gentry in the Qili area lived in this town, and the local militia along with a platoon of security forces were stationed in Zitai'an at the southern end of the town.

One night in January 1936, Wu Debiao, deputy commander of the First Detachment of the Minzhong Guerrilla Unit, led over 60 guerrillas to swiftly surround Zitai'an. The militiamen and security forces inside the temple were jolted awake from their sleep and hurriedly set up machine guns to fire fiercely at the guerrillas. Wu Debiao acted decisively, immediately dividing the main force into two squads: the first squad provided cover, while the second squad led the assault. The moment the enemy’s firepower was suppressed by the first squad, the second squad quickly crawled to the base of Zitai'an’s wall, propped up two bamboo ladders beneath the windows of the enemy building, and two fighters swiftly climbed the ladders. They threw bundles of eight grenades each through the windows, blowing the enemies to pieces amidst screams of agony. The surviving enemies were forced to retreat downstairs. Fighters from the second squad immediately seized the high ground and opened fire on the remaining enemies who were putting up stubborn resistance, driving them from the front courtyard to the rear courtyard of the temple. Then, several fighters rushed downstairs, opened the temple gates, and the fighters from the first squad outside swarmed in, trapping the cowering enemies in the rear courtyard of Zitai'an. Yet these undefeated enemies continued to struggle and resist. The guerrillas pressed the attack. In no time, enemies lay dead and wounded, screaming in chaos, with many scrambling over walls and jumping out of windows in a desperate bid to escape.

In this battle, nine enemies were killed, more than forty rifles, one machine gun, and several handguns were captured, and over thirty innocent civilians who had been imprisoned were rescued. At dawn the next day, the guerrillas led the rescued civilians out of Huyu Town and back to the Luohali Guerrilla Base.

Zitai'an has a construction area of 1,000 square meters, is of brick-concrete structure, the year of construction is unknown, and it was renovated in 1995.
