The Remnants of the Songxia Anti-Japanese Resistance Site from the Battle of Minhai are a cultural heritage site protected by Changle District and a classic red tourism destination.

The Remnants of the Songxia Anti-Japanese Resistance Site from the Battle of Minhai are located at the foot of Dawang Mountain in Songxia Village, Songxia Town, Changle City.

On April 19, 1941, over 400 soldiers from the Japanese 48th Division landed at Zhaixiatan in Niutouwan, Changle, and advanced toward Fuqing. Chen Junsheng, the deputy head of Songxia Township, organized local able-bodied men and joined forces with officers from the Songxia Water Police Unit to engage the Japanese in a bloody battle at Lushan Beilingtou, an inevitable route for the invaders. Chen Junsheng and 31 others sacrificed their lives heroically.

In March 1943, people from all walks of life built the “Songxia Anti-Japanese Martyrs’ Cemetery of the Battle of Minhai” at the foot of Dawang Mountain in Songxia. The cemetery faces the sea, sits north and faces south-southwest at a 30-degree angle, and is built against the mountain. The tomb surface is rammed earth. The cemetery platform is 8.47 meters wide and 18.4 meters deep. The entire cemetery consists of two parts: the burial site and the memorial monument. In front of the platform is a screen wall, and in front of the earthen mound is an inscribed bluestone tablet, which is 1.95 meters high and 0.98 meters wide, engraved with “Inscription of the Songxia Anti-Japanese Martyrs’ Cemetery of the Battle of Minhai.” A flight of stairs leads up to the peak from behind the tomb, where the Monument to the Martyrs of the Battle of Minhai at Songxia stands. The stone monument is square tower-shaped, 3.7 meters high and 1.38 meters wide on each side, with poems inscribed on each side of the base. The screen wall bears inscriptions such as “The Spirits of the Brave Live On” and “The Noble Spirit Endures Forever.” Between the tomb and the monument is also a stele inscribed with “Heroic Sacrifice for the Nation,” written by Lin Sen, standing 2.32 meters tall and 0.86 meters wide. In the spring of 1985, the cemetery was renovated, and a new inscription was added: “Glory in Resisting the Enemy, Eternal Fame in History; Blood Shed on Lushan, Lasting Legacy Through the Ages.”

The Remnants of the Songxia Anti-Japanese Resistance Site from the Battle of Minhai were designated as a county-level cultural heritage protection unit by the Changle County People’s Government in April 1986.
