General Shi Lang's Mausoleum

General Shi Lang's Mausoleum is a cultural tourism attraction.

General Shi Lang's tomb is located on the Huku Slope at the border between Huangtang Town in Hui'an County and Heshi Town in Luojiang District. It is the joint burial site of General Shi Lang, his wife Lady Wang, and Lady Huang. The entire tomb complex is grand in scale and meticulously laid out, featuring exquisitely crafted stone pavilions, stone steles, and stone carvings that are both magnificent and imposing. It is a provincial-level cultural heritage protection unit.

The central tombstone is inscribed with “The Imperial Qing Dynasty’s Guanglu Grand Master, Tutor to the Crown Prince, Admiral of Jinghai, and the Distinguished Shi Gong’s Granted Tomb,” with the sides reading “First-Rank Lady Wang, First-Rank Lady Huang.” This tomb is constructed of stone, with its wing sections expanding outward layer by layer, totaling three burial chambers. The tomb faces south and covers an area of 68,500 square meters. The tomb area is divided into five terraces from north to south, featuring four pairs of civil and military statues, one pair each of horses, tigers, sheep, lions, and ornamental columns, as well as the Edict Sacrificial Stele Pavilion from the 37th year of Emperor Kangxi’s reign (1698), the Imperially Granted Sacrificial Tomb Archway, and the Turtle-Based Stele Pavilion.

Shi Lang (1621–1696), courtesy name Zunhou and art name Zhuogong, was a native of Yakou in Jinjiang. He was imposing in stature, exceptionally brave, skilled in military leadership, and well-versed in maritime affairs, making him a strategically minded commander. After the death of Zheng Chenggong (Koxinga) in Taiwan, Shi Lang strongly advocated for the recovery of Taiwan within the Qing court, vehemently criticized the arguments for abandoning the island, led troops across the sea to conquer Taiwan, and successfully reclaimed the territory. For his contribution to national unification, he was granted the title “Marquis of Jinghai.”

In the 35th year of the Kangxi reign (1696), Shi Lang passed away while in office. To honor his achievements, the Qing court ordered the construction of a memorial temple in his hometown (Yakou Village by Shenhu Bay in Jinjiang), which has been repaired by later generations and remains relatively well-preserved to this day.
