Yipianwa Temple

Yipianwa Temple, also known as Zhanghou Chamber, Gaoshi Rock, or Stone Cave, is located atop Yipianwa Mountain (Stone Chamber Mountain), in the western part of Nan’an Village, Zishan Town, Hui’an. It earned its name from a massive rock that covers the area like a tile. Originally established during the Ming Dynasty by the local recluse Dai Zhuofeng after he retired from office, the site was later transformed into a temple using the natural cave. The covering rock spans over 600 square meters, with the highest point reaching more than 10 meters, and the main cave chamber is particularly vast and remarkable.

Today, the mountainside near the temple features over ten cliff inscriptions and stone carvings by the Dai family, as well as inscriptions dating back to the Qing Dynasty, truly making it a “famous stone-chamber mountain” where one can enjoy “nature’s unspoiled charm.”
