China’s Most Beautiful Coastline (Xiutu to Chongwu)

On the eastern coast of Quanzhou, stretching from Xiutu in the Taiwan Investment Zone to the Chongwu Peninsula in Hui’an, along the Bayfront Coastal Boulevard, lies a winding 28.8-kilometer stretch of China’s most beautiful coastline. It is dotted with 12 beautiful beaches and bays — including Qing Shan Bay, known as the “No. 1 Golden Beach in Fujian,” Xi Sha Bay, a natural beach resort dubbed the “Silver Snake of the Western Sea,” and Ban Yue Bay, hailed as the “Southern Beidaihe” — as well as four major rock formations characterized by jagged peaks and rugged stones, creating a landscape described as “rare in the world and scarce in China.” Here, you’ll find golden sands, azure waters, and refreshing sea breezes… The scenery takes on profound beauty under the glow of the setting sun. Along the coastline, there is also an abundance of tourism resources, such as marine culture, the charm of the Hui Women, the ancient Chongwu Fortress, and the Hui’an stone carving art, forming a picturesque “most beautiful coastline” for sightseeing.

“Ban Yue Chen Wan” (Half Moon Sinking into the Bay) – Ban Yue Bay: Located to the northwest of the Chongwu Ancient Fortress maritime area, this bay boasts a beautiful environment with golden sands and clear blue waters. During high tide, the sight of crashing waves sending up sprays of white foam is truly breathtaking. When the sea is calm, the sight of a few seagulls and sailboats dotting the picturesque seascape is equally awe-inspiring... This natural beach resort, set against the backdrop of the Chongwu Ancient Fortress and complemented by the surrounding coastal scenery, forms a 26.7-acre sandy bay park, making it a great destination for travel, vacation, leisure, and entertainment.

“Xi Sha Yin She” (Silver Snake of the Western Sea) – Xi Sha Bay: Situated along the Chongwu seashore and backed by a five-star hotel, this bay echoes the nearby ancient fortress scenic area. Chongwu Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Hui’an County. Established as Chongwu Town in 1939, it was incorporated into Feiyue Commune in 1958, then split off as Chongwu Commune in 1961, and reinstated as a town in 1984. Located on the prominent southeastern coastal area of the county, it is just 97 nautical miles from Taiwan to the east — one of the closest points across the Taiwan Strait — and 23 kilometers from the county seat. It covers an area of 196 square kilometers and has a population of 680,000. The Huichong Highway runs through the town. It governs 12 village committees: Dama, Gangqian, Jingjiang, Lianxi, Haimen, Chaole, Xihua, Wufeng, Xiaxi, Qian’an, Longxi, and Xidi.
