Fenghou Stone Weir

Fenghou Stone Weir is a cultural relic protection unit of Hui’an County.

Fenghou Stone Weir is located on the beach northwest of Fenghou Natural Village, Wufeng Village, Chongwu Town. Built approximately during the Chenghua to Hongzhi eras of the Ming Dynasty (1465–1505), it is a marine cultural heritage site from the Ming period.

The weir is built from granite, forming an arc-shaped stone embankment. It has a total length of 312 meters, with a height ranging from 0.9 to 1.9 meters and a width of 2 to 5 meters. The farthest point of the weir is 400 meters from the shore. The enclosed sea area covers approximately 120 acres. During high tide, seawater flows over the weir, allowing fish to enter the stone enclosure. As the tide recedes, it traps fish and shrimp, reflecting ancient fixed-position fishing techniques.

Wufeng Village: Located in the central part of the Chongwu Peninsula, Wufeng Village consists of four natural villages — Fengqian, Fengshang, Fenghou, and Fengdong. The village covers a total area of 1.9 square kilometers, with a population of 4,993 and 1,272 households. It is divided into 20 villager groups, and hosts nearly 1,000 migrant workers year-round. The village Party branch oversees 29 sub-branches (including 24 non-public enterprise branches), with 159 Party members.
