The Houqi Octagonal Well is a cultural relic protection unit of Fu'an City.

The Houqi Octagonal Well is located in Houqi Village, Gantang Town, Fu'an City. Dating back to the 14th year of the Yongle era in the Ming Dynasty (1416), it is classified as an ancient architectural structure.

The well is located in the center of Houqi Village, Gantang Town. It was first built in the 14th year of the Yongle era in the Ming Dynasty (1416). The well shaft is square-shaped, built with block stones, and the well curb is octagonal. The well platform was rebuilt in the Jiashen year of the Republic of China (1944). The well is 2.03 meters deep, with a wellhead width of 1.2 meters, a platform width of 4.3 meters, a total length of 6 meters, and a total area of 25.8 square meters. The northern inner wall of the well is embedded with a bluestone slab inscribed with “Constructed in the spring of Yongle Bing Shen year (1416)”, and a bluestone slab on the southern side of the rammed-earth wall surrounding the well platform is inscribed with “Constructed in the spring of the Jiashen year of the Republic of China (1944)”. These inscriptions illustrate the historical changes and continuity of the well, providing significant value for the study of the village’s history and ancient well-building techniques.

On February 20, 2013, the People's Government of Fu'an City designated it as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit in the fifth batch.
