Fu’an Temple is the largest temple dedicated to the Earth God in Taiwan, with a grand architectural style. Its influence spreads across the island, attracting worshippers from far and wide. The temple grounds are surrounded by numerous stalls selling local specialties such as duck eggs, salted eggs, onions, and mung bean sprouts, creating a lively mini-market. Whether on weekdays or holidays, the temple always draws large crowds. Fu’an Temple enjoys year-round popularity, and most visitors to Checheng Township come here to pray for peace.

The Shichiku Hot Spring Park is a favorite spot for locals to take a stroll. The area is long and narrow, divided into northern and southern sections. The northern section has flat terrain, shaded by green trees, and features a beautiful lotus pond and children’s play facilities—perfect for hot spring-goers to wander and enjoy the scenery. The southern section is at a higher elevation, winding along the hillside and dotted with indigenous-style totem pavilions where visitors can rest and take in the view.

Located in Checheng Township, the Baoli Forest Farm features mountainous terrain, surrounded by the Zhushexi and Shipankeng streams, which converge in front of the forest farm’s office building to form the Baoli River. With mountains and water, it offers a tranquil environment.

This was the site of a brave indigenous uprising against Japanese invaders. In 1874, Japan used the killing of Ryukyuan residents by indigenous people as a pretext to send troops up the Shichiku Valley to attack Mudan Village. The indigenous people defended the strategic Shimen Pass between two mountains, engaging in bloody combat against the Japanese army. This historical event is known as the famous “Mudan Incident.” To commemorate this history, the scenic area has erected a stone monument inscribed with the words “Clarifying the Seas, Reclaiming Our Land.”
