Fuan Oil Tea Seed Oil
Fuan Oil Tea Seed Oil is a geographical indication certification trademark.
The national geographical indication certification trademark for "Fuan Oil Tea Seed Oil," applied for by the Fuan Oil Tea Association, has officially been approved and registered by the Trademark Office of the State Administration for Industry and Commerce. This marks yet another national GI agricultural product brand for the city, following previous registrations such as "Fuan Green Bamboo Shoots," "Fuan Kyoho Grapes," and "Muyang Honey Peaches."
Oil tea is a signature industry in the city with a long planting history. The productive lifespan of oil tea trees can exceed 50 years, and the resulting tea seed oil is of high quality. It is currently the only woody edible oil that can rival olive oil, earning it the title "Oriental Olive Oil." In addition, oil tea serves as an excellent industrial raw material, widely used in daily chemicals, pharmaceuticals, papermaking, and other fields, indicating a very promising market outlook. The city has specifically included the development of the oil tea industry in its modern agriculture project initiatives, placing high importance on the growth of this distinctive agricultural sector. A series of measures and guidelines have been introduced, including the "2009–2020 Oil Tea Industry Development Master Plan," which define the goals, scale, and layout of oil tea industry development. Technical construction standards have also been established, aiming to build oil tea into a regionally distinctive advantage industry and a pillar sector for rural economic development. The plan is to raise 30 million yuan over five years to establish 50,000 mu of high-yield oil tea forest bases.
Currently, the oil tea cultivation area spans 118,800 mu, with an annual oil production of 520 tons. Over the past two years, two new oil tea processing enterprises and 56 oil tea professional cooperatives have been established, with 15 townships participating in oil tea projects. The development of oil tea has advanced to the forefront at the provincial level. It is reported that oil tea is gradually becoming a key pillar industry for the city’s rural economic development. With the successful application for the "Fuan Oil Tea Seed Oil" geographical indication for Chinese agricultural products, efforts will be intensified in brand management, protection, and promotion, laying a solid foundation for the next step in striving to become the "Hometown of Chinese Oil Tea."
