Xianghuan White Lotus Hall

Xianghuan White Lotus Hall is a cultural heritage site protected by Fu’an City.

Xianghuan White Lotus Hall is located in Xianghuan Village, Saiqi Town, Fu’an City. It was originally built during the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in the 58th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1793), classified as an ancient architectural structure.

The temple is located at the entrance of Xianghuan Village in Saiqi Town. Originally built in the Ming Dynasty and rebuilt in the 58th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty (1793), it features a northwest-to-southeast orientation and a single-courtyard brick-and-wood structure with a post-and-lintel and dougong (bracket) system. It is a single-entry building composed of a gate tower and a main Buddha hall. It measures 23.3 meters in width and 22.3 meters in depth, covering a total area of 519.6 square meters. The left inner wall of the hall has four embedded bluestone steles that record the reconstruction history of the hall as well as the names and silver donations of patrons. The earliest stele is inscribed with the date “the 58th year of the Qianlong reign of the Great Qing (1793), 12th month, first day of the month,” which matches the date painted on the central beam of the main hall. The hall also preserves a stone incense burner from the eighth year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1580), along with two stone-carved Buddha statues. These artifacts hold historical value for the study of local migration history, folk beliefs, and religious architectural culture.

On February 20, 2013, the Fu’an Municipal People’s Government designated it as a municipal-level cultural heritage site in the fifth batch of such listings.

Saiqi Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Fu’an City. In 1958, Saiqi Commune was established, and in 1984, it was upgraded to a town. Located in the central part of the city, it is 26 kilometers from the municipal government. It covers an area of 78.6 square kilometers and has a population of 45,000. It serves as a hub for water and land transportation in eastern Fujian, with National Highway Fuzhou–Wenzhou passing through the area.
