Xiaoyang Naihe Bridge

Xiaoyang Naihe Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Fu’an City.

Xiaoyang Naihe Bridge is located in Xiaoyang Village, Xiaoyang Town, Fu’an City. Dating back to the sixth year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1880), it is classified as an ancient architectural structure.

It is situated on the stream north of Xiaoyang Village in Xiaoyang Town. The original construction date is unknown, but it was rebuilt in the sixth year of the Guangxu reign (1880). Running from north to south, it spans Fengguo Stream. This single-pier, double-bay wooden-beam covered bridge is 29.4 meters long, 5.1 meters wide, and covers an area of 149.94 square meters. The covered section has eleven bays, supported by 48 pillars, using post-and-lintel wooden framing, with a hip-and-gable roof. Fish-shaped ornaments hang beneath the roof ridges. Both the central bay and the side bays of the bridge house shrines, while the bridge deck is flanked by fully enclosed railings with windows and inward-facing benches. The pier is built from strip stones in the shape of a boat. This bridge is one of the three historically significant and deeply symbolic bridges in Xiaoyang’s history; the other two are the Silver Bridge and the Golden Bridge, both of which have been reconstructed to varying degrees. The bridge holds important reference value for the study of bridge construction techniques and historical-cultural customs. In 2004, it was designated as a municipal cultural relic protection site.

On February 20, 2013, the People’s Government of Fu’an City listed it as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units.

Xiaoyang Village: With a total population of 3,544, Xiaoyang Village consists of 15 villager groups and includes natural villages such as Xiaoyang, Dongshan (western half), and Lidi. Major streets include Fengqian Street, Guanqian Street, Chaoyang Street, Liwan Road, Zhangtanban, and Xincunxia. The village currently has 0.11 million mu of arable land, 2.28 million mu of orchards, and 1.63 million mu of forest land. Key local specialties include tea, grapes, ginger, honey peaches, sweet potato starch, and red wine. In 2011, the village’s total economic income was 34.23 million yuan, with an average per capita income of 7,650 yuan for farmers.
