Guanyin Pavilion of Zhaoming Temple

Guanyin Pavilion of Zhaoming Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Fu'an City.

Guanyin Pavilion of Zhaoming Temple is located in Baolin Village, Wanwu Town, Fu'an City. Dating back to the Qing Dynasty, it is categorized as an ancient architectural structure.

Originally named Zhaoming Nunnery, it is situated about 100 meters east of Zhanshan Natural Village in Baolin Village, Wanwu Town, Fu'an City. First built during the Song Dynasty, it has undergone renovations in successive dynasties. The existing Guanyin Pavilion structure was constructed in the Qing Dynasty. It faces north and is a brick-and-wooden corridor-style building, with a total width of 26.35 meters and a depth of 17.6 meters, covering a floor area of 465 square meters. The Guanyin Pavilion features a double-eaved hip-and-gable roof. It is five bays wide with two side corridors, and three bays deep with seven columns. The Yuantong Hall (Guanyin Pavilion) is the last building in the temple complex, with the ground level being 2 meters higher than that of the preceding Mahavira Hall. The front corridor is edged with stone railings, and there are 17 stone steps on either side leading to the front hall. The central bay has a relatively high roof pitch, and the interior ceiling is adorned with an octagonal caisson ceiling. The eaves are supported by hanging pillars. The wooden components such as brackets, spandrel brackets, and hanging pillars are exquisitely carved. The entire temple complex of Zhaoming Temple consists of the gate tower, the Heavenly King Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the courtyard (also serving as a release pond), and the Yuantong Hall, covering a total area of 1,111.1 square meters. Both the Heavenly King Hall and the Mahavira Hall are newly built concrete structures. The site holds significant reference value for the study of the city’s religious architecture, carving craftsmanship, and the development of religious culture. In 2004, it was designated as a Fu'an City cultural relic protection site.

On February 20, 2013, the People's Government of Fu'an City announced it as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units.
