Lianxi Cliff Inscriptions

The Lianxi Cliff Inscriptions are a cultural relic protection unit of Fu'an City.

The Lianxi Cliff Inscriptions are located in Shuangfeng Village, Xitan Town, Fu'an City, dating back to the 12th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1832), and fall under the category of stone carvings.

Located at the foot of a hill by the stream, 1.2 kilometers northwest of Shuangfeng Village, Xitan Town, they were carved at an unknown time. Distributed along the rock face by the stream facing southwest, all inscriptions are in regular script and include characters such as “Shou” (Longevity), “Fu” (Blessing), and “Yuan Fei Yu Yue” (Birds Flying and Fish Leaping). The character “Shou” measures 1 meter by 2 meters, with the inscription “Daoguang Renchen, Yi Nan 97-year-old Feng Zongchi, Heigui.” The character “Fu” measures 1 meter by 1 meter. Between the “Shou” and “Fu” characters is the four-character phrase “Yuan Fei Yu Yue,” with each character about 0.5 meters in size. The latter two inscriptions bear the signature “Lan Chuan Lin.” These cliff inscriptions provide a physical reference for the study of the area’s cultural heritage. In 2004, they were announced by the Fu'an Bureau of Culture and Sports as one of the city’s first group of cultural heritage sites.

On February 20, 2013, the Fu'an Municipal People's Government designated them as part of the fifth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units.

Protected area: An extension of 10 meters beyond the outer walls of the structure.

Xitan Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Fu'an City. Established as Xitan Commune in 1958, reorganized as a township in 1984, and upgraded to a town in 1994. It is located in the southwestern part of the city, 10 kilometers from the municipal government, covering an area of 119.5 square kilometers with a population of 36,000. Provincial Highway Pusa passes through the area.
