General Huang Feng’s Former Residence

General Huang Feng’s Former Residence is a cultural relic protection unit of Fu’an City.

General Huang Feng’s Former Residence is located in Sudi Village, Muyang Town, Fu’an City. Dating back to the Qing Dynasty, it is categorized as an important modern historical site and representative architecture.

Located at No. 130, Sudi Middle Road, Sudi Village, Muyang Town, it was built during the Qing Dynasty. The building faces south with a 30-degree eastward orientation and is constructed with a brick, wood, and earth structure in a traditional courtyard style. It has a total width of 43.78 meters and a length of 48.07 meters, covering a building area of 2,104.5 square meters, with a garden area of 746.13 square meters, bringing the total area to 2,850.63 square meters. The main house features a flush gable roof and a mixed post-and-lintel and beam-raising timber frame, spanning four floors. Along the central axis, it consists of a gate pavilion, entrance passage, front porch, courtyard, main house, rear courtyard, rear building, and garden. The main house has seven bays with two side wings, ten interior columns, a false ceiling in the hall, a raised front porch roof, a relatively high pitch, and the use of substantial materials. The walls on both sides of the main gate feature saddle-shaped firewalls, highlighting the distinctive characteristics of the area's traditional residential architecture. The site holds significant reference value for the study of local traditional architecture and revolutionary historical figures.

On February 20, 2013, the Fu’an Municipal People’s Government designated it as a Cultural Relic Protection Unit in the fifth batch of municipal-level listings.

Protected Area: An extension of 5 meters beyond the external walls of the building.

Muyang Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Fu’an City. Established as the Muyang Commune in 1958 and upgraded to a town in 1984, it is located in the northwest of the city, approximately 25 kilometers from the municipal government. Covering an area of 3 square kilometers with a population of 16,000, it is traversed by the Xiaopu section of the provincial highway. The town administers two village committees (Muyang and Sudi) and six neighborhood committees (Dongxing, Xicheng, Shima, Dongxu, Baishou, and Sudi). Industries include foundries and toy factories.
