Kenhou Earth Fortress is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Location: Kenhou Village, Bailian Town, Jiangle County

Introduction: Initially built in the eighth year of the Xianfeng reign during the Qing Dynasty (1858), it was originally named Jingping Temple. The fortress is surrounded by cliffs on three sides, situated in a strategically important and easily defensible location. It faces north and south, with an irregular elongated layout that follows the terrain, covering an area of 874.22 square meters. The fortress consists of a watchtower at the southeast corner, a front courtyard, and a rear Ancestral Master Hall. Associated cultural relics include an iron chime from the Xinyou year of the Xianfeng reign (1861) and an iron bell from the tenth year of the Tongzhi reign (1871).

Protected area: Extending 30 meters outward from the perimeter of the building.

In 2009, Kenhou Earth Fortress was designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Bailian Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Jiangle County. Originally established as the Hongguang Commune in 1958, it was split to form the Bailian Commune in 1961, upgraded to a township in 1984, and re-designated as a town in 1995. Located in the southern part of the county, it is 34 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 243 square kilometers with a population of 16,000, it is traversed by the provincial highway Yangwan Line. The town administers 11 village committees — Bailian, Cuntou, Sanxi, Xiaowang, Dawang, Dali, Gulu, Tianxu, Tongling, Niu Ling, and Zhonghou — and one residential committee, Bailian.
