Age: Neolithic Age

Address: Meihua Jing Village, Guyong Town, Jiangle County

Introduction: A small-scale trial excavation was conducted in 1988, obtaining a batch of animal fossils. In 2003, a small-scale excavation was carried out at the mountaintop area of the Yanzi Cave Site, unearthing rich Neolithic remains. In 2014, a formal archaeological excavation was conducted at the Yanzi Cave Site, covering an area of 400 square meters. A total of 2 tombs, 1 ditch, 2 house foundations, over ten ash pits and postholes, as well as more than a thousand pottery, stone, and bone artifacts and a large number of charcoal samples were discovered. Carbon-14 dating indicates that the site dates back 5,000–4,500 years.

Protected Area: East to Yanzi Pass Stream, south to paddy fields, west to Chedui Stream, north to the highway.

In 2018, the Yanzi Cave Site was announced by the Fujian Provincial People's Government as part of the ninth batch of Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Units.

In 2019, the Yanzi Cave Site was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Guyong Town: Located in the central part of Jiangle County, Guyong Town is the political, economic, cultural, and transportation hub of the county, covering a total area of 220 square kilometers. The town government is situated on the north bank of the Jinxi River in the county seat, serving as the political, economic, and cultural center of Jiangle County.

In the third year of the Tiande era of the Min Kingdom during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period (964 AD), when Jiangle was elevated from a county to a prefecture, a mountain called Xitai Shan to the west of the county seat resembled an inverted bell, leading to the name “Yongzhou.” It was later renamed “Guyong” due to its long history.
