Bowl and Dish Mound Kiln Site

The Bowl and Dish Mound Kiln Site is a cultural heritage conservation unit of Fujian Province.

The Bowl and Dish Mound Kiln Site is located in Badan Natural Village, Zhuzhou Village, Wanquan Township, Jiangle County, dating back to the Song Dynasty.

Introduction: The kiln site is primarily spread across four hillsides centered around Bowl and Dish Mound on the north side of the Jinxi River, covering an area of about 35,000 square meters. Its main products include celadon, bluish-white porcelain, and brown-glazed porcelain, with forms such as bowls, dishes, cups, ewers, granary jars, incense burners, boxes, and cups. Kiln furniture includes pedestals and saggars. Most of the products feature white and delicate bodies, with bluish-white glazes that have a slightly opaque quality, along with a small number that exhibit a shadowy blue tone. The colors of the celadon glaze are mainly greenish-yellow and green, while the brown-glazed pieces are predominantly reddish-brown or brown, with a few appearing blackish-brown. The kiln site dates from the middle to late Northern Song Dynasty to the Southern Song Dynasty.

Protected area: To the east up to the eastern side of the hill where Kiln No. 3 is located, to the south up to the Jinxi River, to the west up to the temple on the western side of Kiln No. 2, and to the north up to the hillside north of the kiln site.

In 2018, the Bowl and Dish Mound Kiln Site was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage conservation units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.
