The Liangdi Architectural Complex is located in Liangdi Village, Wanquan Township, Jiangle County, dating back to the Qing Dynasty.

Overview: It mainly consists of six vernacular buildings: the Temple of Literature and Martial Arts, the Liang Clan Ancestral Hall, the Xu Yan Residence, the Yueshan Mansion, the Houhui Granary, and the Shuwei Wooden Covered Bridge. The Temple of Literature and Martial Arts was built in the 26th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1761), facing northeast and situated southwest. It consists of a front courtyard, an octagonal wooden gatehouse, a front patio with corridors on three sides, an altar pavilion, a two-story hall, and rear auxiliary structures, covering a total area of 378 square meters. The Liang Clan Ancestral Hall, also known as Yuki Hall, faces east and is situated west. It includes an upper and lower hall in the main block, a front courtyard, side street-facing gatehouses, side auxiliary rooms, a front arc-shaped stilted building, and a rear storage house, covering an area of 588 square meters. The Xu Yan Residence faces southeast and is situated northwest. It consists of a left-front gatehouse, a courtyard, an upper and lower hall, a flower hall on the left, two rows of cross-houses on the right, and a semi-circular enclosed wall at the rear, along with auxiliary structures outside the rear wall, covering a total area of 1094 square meters; slogans such as “Oppose the Kuomintang’s Betrayal of China – Proclaimed by the Political Department of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army” are preserved on the inner walls of the gable walls. The Yueshan Mansion faces southeast and is situated northwest. It includes a right-front gateway, an upper and lower hall, a study room at the rear right, and a book depository at the rear left, covering an area of 362 square meters. The Houhui Granary, also known as the Guanqun Granary, is a single-story structure with four bays in width and four columns in depth. It contains eight separate grain storage rooms, each covering about 6.6 square meters. The Shuwei Wooden Covered Bridge spans the Liangdi Stream. It is a single-span wooden cantilever-beam covered bridge, oriented from southwest to northeast. The bridge has 11 covered bays, each supported by four pillars, with a raised-beam and post-and-lintel construction, a double-sloped roof, and a height of approximately 5 meters. On the left side of the bridgehead stands the Jiling Palace, while ancient post roads extend about 75 meters from both ends of the bridge.

In 2013, the Liangdi Architectural Complex was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage sites by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected Area: A buffer zone extending 10 meters outward from the perimeter of each of the following structures — the Temple of Literature and Martial Arts, the Liang Clan Ancestral Hall, the Xu Yan Residence, the Yueshan Mansion, and the Houhui Granary.

Liangdi Village: Since its establishment by the founding ancestors of the Liang family during the Northern Song Dynasty, Liangdi Village in Wanquan Township has a history of nearly a thousand years. Nestled at the border between Jiangle and Taining counties, the ancient village is surrounded by mountains on all sides, offering beautiful scenery and a well-preserved settlement structure. The Liangdi Ancient Architectural Complex, made up of various traditional structures such as temples, ancestral halls, residences, granaries, and bridges, forms both the core and essence of this mountainous ancient village’s landscape architecture, as well as a perfect representation of the vernacular architecture of the Hakka people in northwestern Fujian. The numerous granaries vividly reflect the village’s simple philosophy of “food as the basis of life” and historical customs. The villagers of Liangdi maintain traditional customs...
