The Rongguang Ancestral Hall at Kanhou

The Rongguang Ancestral Hall at Kanhou is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The Rongguang Ancestral Hall at Kanhou is located in Kanhou Village, Bailian Town, Jiangle County, and dates back to the Qing Dynasty.

Introduction: Also known as the Sijing Hall or Zhongshan Hall, it was first built during the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty (1821–1850). It follows a layout of ancestral hall on the left and schoolhouse on the right. The main structure faces west and is oriented east, consisting of a front porch, main hall, and left and right corridors, covering an area of 532 square meters; the main hall has five bays in width, six pillars in depth, with a raised-beam and through-tenon style roof frame, and a flush-gable roof. The schoolhouse faces south and is oriented north, consisting of two corridors and a study room, covering an area of 216 square meters. The study room has four bays in width, six pillars in depth, with the second bay from the east serving as the main hall, featuring a through-tenon roof frame and a hanging-gable roof. In March 1934, the command post for the Red 19th Division’s battle at Tongtiegling was set up here, and slogans from the Red Army remain on the walls.

In 2013, the Rongguang Ancestral Hall at Kanhou was designated as part of the eighth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: An extension of 10 meters beyond the hall on all sides.

Bailian Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Jiangle County. The Hongguang Commune was established in 1958, and the Bailian Commune was formed from it in 1961. It was restructured as a township in 1984 and upgraded to a town in 1995. Located in the southern part of the county, it is 34 kilometers from the county seat. It covers an area of 243 square kilometers and has a population of 16,000. The provincial highway Yangwan Line passes through the area. It administers 11 village committees — Bailian, Cuntou, Sanxi, Xiaowang, Dawang, Dali, Gulong, Tianxu, Tongling, Niuling, and Zhonghou — and one neighborhood committee, Bailian.
