The Former Site of the Red 6th Division Headquarters is a cultural heritage site protected by Jiangle County.

The Former Site of the Red 6th Division Headquarters at the Yang Clan Ancestral Hall is located in Jiaohu Village, Nan Kou Township, Jiangle County.

The Jiaohu Ferry was the only passage connecting the county seat of Jiangle with Mingxi and the southern part of Jiangle at that time. In August 1933, the Red 6th Division stationed in Jiaohu Village to guard this crucial transportation hub, establishing its headquarters inside the Yang Clan Ancestral Hall. During this time, the Red Army mobilized the masses to launch movements such as fighting local tyrants and redistributing land. They also established the Jiaohu Township Soviet Government and a Red Guards unit. Luo Xianshui, Yang Mingzhang, and Xiong Qiufa served as the land committee member, land distribution committee member, and propaganda committee member, respectively. Several young villagers, including Yang Rongfu, joined the Red Army, while Huang Qiumao, Yang Shengshun, Yang Yuzhen, and Liao Xianfu enlisted in the Red Guards. The Red Army painted slogans around the ancestral hall walls and surrounding areas, including “Enlist in the Red Army,” “Fight Local Tyrants and Distribute Land,” and “Children Over Six Join the Children’s Corps.” When the main force of the Red Army crossed the Jiaohu Ferry, they mobilized the villagers to load hundreds of “rice baskets” and “grain measures” with stones and sink them into the riverbed as makeshift piers. Door planks taken from local homes were then laid on top to form a temporary bridge. At its peak, thousands of Red Army soldiers crossed here. On September 12, several hundred enemy troops from the Nationalist Ma Hongxing forces attempted to flank through Bailian and Shuikou to reinforce the defending enemies in Jiangle County. The Red Army ordered the 1st Company of the 18th Regiment to strengthen the defense of the Jiaohu Ferry, sabotage roads, destroy ferries, and increase patrols around Shuikou and Huangtan. When the Red Army withdrew from Jiaohu Village, they left behind one warhorse for the Red Guards to encourage them to continue their guerrilla resistance.

The Former Site of the Red 6th Division Headquarters was originally the Yang Clan Ancestral Hall in Jiaohu Village. Built during the Qing Dynasty (1717), it faces south and features a brick-and-wood structure. It consists of low perimeter walls connected to a gate pavilion, an inner courtyard, a central passageway, a lower hall with corridors, a central courtyard, an upper hall, a rear flower terrace, and wing rooms.

The Yang Clan Ancestral Hall at the Former Site of the Red 6th Division Headquarters was designated as a protected site by the Jiangle County Cultural Relics Management Committee in June 2003.
