Former Red Army Garrison Site in Wenfang

The former Red Army garrison site at Zhenwu Temple is located in Shangfang, Wenfang Village, Nan Kou Township.

The former Red Army garrison site was originally the Zhenwu Temple of Wenfang Village, Nan Kou Township. It was first built in February 1155 during the Shaoxing era of the Southern Song Dynasty and later became a Qing Dynasty ancestral hall. Oriented southeast to northwest, the structure has a rectangular floor plan with a total area of 270 square meters. It is composed of an "eight-character" style gate tower, entrance hall, and main hall, forming a single-courtyard layout. The main hall features five bays in width and six columns in depth, with a mixed post-and-lintel and through-tenon construction method and a flush-gable roof. Inside the shrine niche are statues including that of Tang Xue, a military examination top scorer from the Tang clan. The gate tower is a four-pillar, three-story structure, while the entrance hall uses a five-rafter post-and-lintel system. The front of the hall has a covered porch, and on the left side there is an arched side door connecting to the Tang Clan Ancestral Hall.

In June 2003, the Zhenwu Temple, the former Red Army garrison site, was designated as a protected heritage site by the Jiangle County Cultural Relics Management Committee.
