Jiushidu

The Jiushidu Scenic Area is located in Shuibei Street Town, Fujian Province. The area features striking danxia (red sandstone) peaks, bizarre rocks, clear streams, and verdant waters, creating captivating natural scenery. The weathered temples and ancient porcelain kiln ruins evoke thoughts of bygone eras. Throughout history, many notable figures have visited the site and left behind poems and writings, enriching its cultural significance.

The scenic area consists of two main sections: the Jindou Mountain section, which includes 11 attractions such as Jindou Temple and Immortal’s Cave, and the Jiushidu Water Route section. Taking a tourist boat along the waterway allows visitors to enjoy 17 sights, including Reclining Ox Drinking Water, Jiushidu, and Mouse Rock, while also listening to the boatmen’s fascinating legends. Drifting along the tranquil stream, gazing at the swaying crops along the banks and occasionally spotting farmers working leisurely in the fields, one can deeply sense what it means to be in a earthly paradise. Nearby, there are also attractions such as the ancient port Guanqian, the former residence of Xie Ju, the Donglu Yan’an Water Curtain Cave, Lunzang Temple, and Yunfeng Temple. Moreover, there is the Shuibeikou Kiln Site, listed as a provincial cultural heritage protection unit and hailed as the “Pearl of Ancient Zhi,” all of which are worth lingering over.
