Sanjiangyuan Water Conservancy Scenic Area, Pucheng County

The Pucheng Sanjiangyuan Water Conservancy Scenic Area is situated in the northern part of Zhongxin Town, Pucheng County, Nanping City, Fujian Province. It borders Longquan City of Zhejiang Province to the east and Jiangshan City of Zhejiang Province to the north, with a total area of about 490 square kilometers. The area within Guanlu Township is 59.30 square kilometers, and within Zhongxin Town it is 430.70 square kilometers. The scenic area encompasses the headwaters of the Min River, Xin River, and Qiantang River—including Jiyang Stream, Maoyang Stream, Guanlu Stream, Panting Stream, Yucang Stream, Haixi Stream, Shanzhuang Stream, Zhaimen Stream, and Maji Stream—along with the first range of mountains along these streams. Its northeastern boundary reaches the provincial border, the western edge extends to Guanlu Township, and the southern boundary includes the seat of Zhongxin Town and the ridgeline of Dafulu Mountain. The surrounding northern ranges of the Wuyi Mountains and the Xianxia Ridge form the "Three Rivers' Source" of the Min River, Qiantang River, and Xin River. Zhongxin Town in Pucheng is one of only two townships in the province designated as a "Three Rivers' Source" area, with its waters flowing into the Min River in Fujian, the Qiantang River in Zhejiang, and the Xin River in Jiangxi. The scenic area includes Guanlu Stream, Panting Stream, Yucang Stream, Jiyang Stream, Maoyang Stream, Haixi Stream, Shanzhuang Stream, Zhaimen Stream, and Maji Stream, as well as the adjacent first range of mountains. The Haixi, Shanzhuang, and Zhaimen Streams converge into the Zhexi Stream, which then flows into the Nanpu Stream—the main headwater of the Min River. The riverbanks are flanked by towering mountains, with narrow, winding waterways that twist and turn through the landscape. The riverbeds are scattered with uniquely shaped rocks, steep peaks compete in beauty, clear streams flow vigorously, and layers of mist create an almost otherworldly scene.
